The Winter Crusade
Elves represent times long passed. Many choose to emmulate the ancient empires of the past. They dress proudly in chothes and armors based on the clothing and armor of previous Ages. Over the last century, there has been an exodus of elves from human settlements, back into ancient elven holdings. Those communities thrive in seclusion.
There are some elven spiritual leaders who encourage others to look into their own cultural paths to find answers to their modern-day problems. There are some communities, though, that elves of particular lineages are magically barred form entering. Those who carry the blood of the ancient leaders, for example, are barred from the ancient Royal Seat.
Those elves who choose not to venerate the past tend to build their own elven communities, far from the influence on the “ancients”. Those communities, though, have celebrations once a year in which they re-create elements of ancient elven culture. They have games and tournaments in the old elven style, and encourage everyone to dress in the manner of their ancient elders. They look at this as a way to keep a connection with their old ways, without ever letting go of their modern lives.
